Jackie Dieker, RN
Meet Jackie Dieker, who joined the team when WISH Medical became a part of Palouse Care Network in 2006 with the addition of our first ultrasound machine. After 2 years of volunteering to perform ultrasounds for our patients, Jackie was hired to help pioneer our medical clinic expansion to include the full range of STI/STD testing. It was quite a feat to convert a small back-porch laundry room at our old location into a medical office/laboratory for herself and our medical provider.
As we have expanded into our new facility, Jackie continues to be an integral part of our WISH Medical team. Whether it’s meeting with potentially pregnant women, facilitating STI testing for our male and female patients, or performing limited ultrasounds, Jackie completes every task with a spirit of excellence in the medical profession.
Raised in Oregon, Jackie graduated from Portland’s Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing and enjoyed both hospital and clinic settings. A career break gave her the opportunity to raise three children, and she returned to nursing in 1995.
Jackie and her husband, John, reside in Pullman with their doodle, Joey, and grand-kitty, Mia. They enjoy traveling to Seattle and Portland to visit family.
LeAnn Robertson, LPN
We’d like to introduce LeAnn Robertson, our Clinic Manager. LeAnn grew up right here in Moscow, and enjoys camping, fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles with her family. In addition to meeting with our patients, she coordinates our medical team and oversees our medical policies, including keeping us in the loop with OSHA and HIPAA.
LeAnn, can you tell us a bit about your education and professional background?
I completed my pre-nursing courses at the U of I, and went to nursing school at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene. I had worked mostly in geriatrics and family practice for twenty years before joining the team here two years ago.
What appealed to you most about working at WISH Medical?
I really love the administrative pieces of office nursing. Here, I have the opportunity to serve our community in a very specialized arena as well as put my organizational brain to good use for a great purpose!
And who wouldn’t welcome an organizational brain to their team?! Let’s move on to some “fun” questions…
What is one of the scariest things you’ve ever done?
Strapped myself face down into a pendulum swing with two cousins and then was hoisted 300 feet into the air… we were let go at a free fall in pendulum motion back and forth until we finally stopped. I do not recommend this! I’ve had trouble getting past the second rung of a ladder ever since…
Yikes! We won’t be trying this anytime soon! What do you like to watch on TV? Your favorite movie?
I really like Survivor, NCIS, and all of the Law & Order series. So many movie favorites! I could watch some of the oldies over and over, back when you had to be able to sing and dance too! 7 Brides for 7 Brothers and The Harvey Girls take the cake.
What are the last two books you’ve read?
Winnie-the-Pooh’s Rainy Day to my granddaughter… does the OSHA Manual count? I love to read, I just don’t have the time!
If you could eat one food for the rest of your life without getting sick of it, what would it be?
Potatoes, any way you can cook them… or steak… or turtle cheesecake… or…
Spoken like a true Idahoan! What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I play the keyboard with our music team at church.
If you could jump on a plane today and go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
My husband has always wanted to go to the South Pacific, but we’d have to take the long way through Dallas to see my sister first!
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I completed my ultrasound training last year and passed my competency assessment for it. I am currently near the end of a four year journey to get my RN license while continuing to work and take care of my family.
Wow, that’s a lot on your plate! How many kids do you have?
We have two grown children and two high-schoolers. We also have two grandchildren with two more on the way!
That is awesome, LeAnn. Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions for us!
Deborah Medel, FNP
Meet Debbie Medel, our Family Nurse Practitioner who has been with WISH Medical since 2011. Debbie joined our team after serving the Palouse for four years as a primary care provider, and before that, the sole healthcare provider at a rural medical clinic in Idaho County. She is nationally certified, and has achieved competency in sonography.
Debbie traveled the U.S. while growing up, eventually settling in Colorado where she received her Master’s Degree in Nursing in 1997. She has over 20 years of experience, including home health rehabilitation, women’s healthcare, cardiac care, oncology home-care, and caring for the elderly in extended care facilities. She also spent five years in pediatric intensive care specializing in high-risk newborns and post-partum education. Debbie has volunteered with the American Red Cross Disaster Services and the American Cancer Society.
Debbie says that having had the opportunity to work with all ages, it was natural for her to choose to become a family nurse practitioner. “My desire to combine my practice with my faith led me to WISH Medical. I embrace the unique opportunity to positively impact individuals and affect a change in the culture.” Debbie is attracted to rural living and the close, intimate community connections found in small towns.
Debbie and her husband, Dave, have three children and many pets. They enjoy kayaking, backcountry trail bike adventures, hiking, hunting, fishing, and volunteer work with many community organizations.
